Process Design

7 licensed professional engineers on staff to provide engineering evaluation, design, specification, construction and/or construction oversight of:

Storm Water Management

Storm water inlets and sewers; storm water treatment for removal of sediments, oil and grease, etc.; storm water runoff control, including detention ponds, swales, filters, and green infrastructure techniques; and infiltration and inflow studies.

Wastewater Collection and Treatment

Conveyance pump systems and piping for industrial and municipal waste waters; industrial wastewater pretreatment systems for pH neutralization and/or removal of metals, VOC’s, BOD, oil and grease, etc.; aeration and biological treatment of municipal waste waters; and associated systems automation and control.

Chemical and Petroleum Bulk Storage and Dispensing

Aboveground and underground tank systems for storage of chemicals and petroleum, including secondary containment systems for both storage tanks and transfer (loading/unloading) areas; pump and piping systems for chemical and petroleum transfer, including double-walled piping systems; and associated level control, leak detection and alarm systems.

Solid and Hazardous Waste Handling and Storage

Segregation, containment and storage systems for handling solid and hazardous wastes.

Waste Minimization

Systems evaluation and process efficiency modifications to reduce waste disposal, utility and other industrial operating costs associated with environmental compliance and management.

Air Emissions Control

Treatment of industrial air streams to remove mists, particulate, VOC and other contaminants via filtration (carbon and other media), scrubbing, thermal oxidation, etc.

Industrial Ventilation

Capture and control systems to minimize employee exposure to airborne chemicals in compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, etc.)

Environmental Remediation Systems

In-situ and ex-situ treatment of air, soils and groundwater in support of DAY’s Environmental Restoration group activities, including: sub-slab depressurization systems (SSDS) to mitigate indoor air vapor intrusion; biological treatment systems (bioaugmentation, bioventing, biosparging); chemical treatment (oxidation, precipitation, adsorption, absorption, permeable reactive barriers); and physical treatment (pump and treat, vapor extraction, air sparging, oil skimming).

Automated Process and Instrumentation Controls

Proficiency with Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs), micro-controllers, and associated instrumentation (level, flow, pressure, temperature, pH) and equipment (pumps, valves, heaters, etc.) for automation and control of water, wastewater, chemical, petroleum, HVAC and other related systems; evaluation and retrofit of existing systems for improved efficiency, control and cost reductions.
